I attempted carving a pumpkin for the first time as an adult this year...with some trepidation. I don't usually use large knives for carving but as a mom, I kind of felt like I had to...not to mention I did want to have some roasted pumpkin seeds! So I borrowed the proper tools from my pal Carmen but ended up just using a regular knife or two to carve the pumpkin. The good thing about doing this with a kid is that they like the gross part -- scooping out the goopy stuff from the inside. And I also gave RC the job of separating the seeds from the goop so we could toast them. It turned out better than I thought, actually.
And, as usual, we crashed the Halloween party at Amy Franklin's house so we could go trick-or-treating with the Teeds in Meridian Kessler. Rachel Claire was a dalmation and was adorable! And it was a nice warm costume for a chilly night!
