Life with Rachel Claire: Hey Santa, over here!

We travelled to Virginia Beach to visit with Grandpa & Ayi over the holidays. On the way there we had smooth sailing on both of our flights and our connection. While we were in the Charlotte airport we were waiting to board our plane and another plane was emptying. Well who came walking by (on Christmas eve) but Santa!! Rachel Claire stood up on her chair and said (not very loudly), "Santa, over here!" It was so cute!!!

While we were in Virginia Beach we had a nice time visiting my dad, Wang Chun, Bo & Gloria. Uncle Chris and Aunt Wei joined us also. We took a field trip to an aquarium and on another day we road tripped to Sandbridge to see former step-sister Suzanne and her family.

The return trip was a harrowing 12 hour ordeal that started at 1:30 pm and ended at 1:30 am in Indianapolis sans suitcase (but the carseat arrived...). Needless to say, Rachel Claire was such a travel trooper!! She never cried (also never slept) in 3.5 hours in the Norfolk airport, one bumpy flight to Washington DC in which her mom was a mess, 4.5 hours at Dulles and while waiting (in vain) for our luggage to arrive at 1:15 am in Indy. She only went to sleep once we got her in the carseat for the drive home. A lot of chocolate and gum (most of it swallowed) was consumed over those 12 hours though. And the next day I develped a fever (bronchitis) and had to go to the immediate care center for antibiotics...ugh!
