Birthday Bash!

I'm feeling rather ambivalent today....on the one hand, I feel so lucky and blessed in many ways: great kid, new job, good health, etc. On the other hand, my small fry didn't nap today and so it was kind of a struggle at the end of the day. In the end, we read a few books and had a good end to our day, but there was a struggle about eating dinner which eventually didn't get much eaten (and thus no dessert/snack). All and all though, Rachel Claire is the greatest! She's happy and smart and really wonderful to be around 95% of the time.

RC went to a Montessori school today to try it out. I thought I would have to stay with her for a couple of hours but it was clear after about 20 minutes that she would actually be better without me. So I left, she was fine with it and the teachers said she did great! What more could a gal ask for - ok, I guess I nap would be one answer to that but she actually did amazingly well for not having one. We even went out and picked out a Halloween costume - Tinkerbell. I was on the fence about letting her pick it out, knowing that if I came home with something, she would like it. But I decided to brave the Disney store and she picked Tinkerbell (she almost got Nemo, Bab!) and it is a cute little costume. I hope its not too cold if we have to be outside with it on. I will post some pictures once she gets it on.

We had a delightful (although boiling hot) birthday party for Rachel Claire last Sunday at the Grandmas. We had lots of cousins, Grands and Aunts & Uncles. It was a Blue's Clue's theme and there really weren't any mishaps or meltdowns (except all of us sweating!). Rachel Claire got some great presents including a cool wagon that we test drove (with Carson in tow) this week.

Well, I'm thinking I might be slacking a bit for a while as I ease into my new job which starts Monday...although there are quite a few photo ops coming up, so maybe I'll surprise myself. Happy Fall everyone!
