Ok, so the photos in this post are completely backward because I'm just learning how to use the new Blogger software...so, start from the bottom and read up!
We walked around the grounds of the camp on Sunday afternoon, it was very peaceful and beautiful. We'd love to have some more families come join us this year!!
The Alpine Tower looked pretty cool, although a little scary. Rachel Claire was much braver than I was!
Even though there was a bit of an age difference between Rachel Claire and Kate's kids, they had fun playing together and just hanging out outside.
Each family had a cabin to themselves and we also had a counselor assigned to us, Alton, who was from Liberia. Alton was great with the kids and it was extra special that he was from another country. Alton got us fixed up with a fire and s'mores, yummm!
The camp is very nice and has many amenities, including a (freezing!) swimming pool, a lovely grounds, a lake for canoeing, an alpine tower for climbing and swinging, fishing spot, archery, etc.
My friend Kate and I planned an Adoptive Families camp at Flatrock YMCA camp in St. Paul Indiana. We were unable to get anyone else to come but our two families went and experienced the camp so we could try to encourage others participate in future years. Our goal for 2012 is more than 2 families!
The camp is about an hour from Indy and is very nice -- not too rustic, my kind of camping! There are air conditioned cabins, hot water and showers, and people who feed you 3 meals a day! There was a group of other campers there when we were there, from Anderson University, and we all coexisted peacefully.
