Winter Weather 2011

One thing I do like to take pictures of is the nature outside our house. And this winter's ice storm gave me three days at home to do so...not to mention the next 6 days at home while Rachel Claire was sick with a low grade fever (but high enough to keep her home from school)! We were definitely stir crazy after spending 9 days at home together!

And I was in no mood to chop up all of that ice...tried to do so and it was nearly 2 inches thick! So I just let it melt...and we walked carefully across it for several days until it melted. Carson could walk across it through the back yard...and he's 80 pounds! And the kids could just slide down it on the "hills" in our yard.

The ice sure was pretty though...and lots of icicles! Luckily no power outages or anything like that at our house...several sessions of scraping the car off...which mostly evolved into turning on the car and letting the heat melt the ice off the windshields...for about 30 minutes. Luckily I had a full tank of gas and could get into the driver's side door without too much difficulty. Those are the days I wish I had a garage!!
