Last weekend I thought it would be a good idea to see if we could ride in one of the kayaks on the canal...together. Too bad a rain storm snuck up on us! At first, when we got there, it was just a sprinkle that we waited out under a bridge. But alas, while we were boating (no one to take a picture of us actually IN the boat), a big black cloud appeared. We quickly paddled back to the shore and hopped out...I managed to snap a picture or two of RC in my BIG sweatshirt (she was wet from paddling) before we got poured on! We waited under another bridge and talked to some nice people visiting here from France. Then we had to trudge through the rain to the car (quite a ways) because there was no way the rain was letting up. We were soaked through and through but we had a great time!
And the kayaking went better than I expected. I brought a nice life jacket that I had gotten for RC last year at the end of the season (rather than use the yucky ones they have there) which made it easier for her. And she wasn't scared much either. It was a little close quarters with the two of us in a single kayak but it really wasn't bad. Not sure for how long I could do it but it definitely worked better than I thought it would. We'll have to try that again sometime -- when its not raining!
