Sand & pirate ships
Another spontaneous weekend trip, but this one was after the rain storm. There's a big sand carving project going on at Garfield Park and it usually costs $4.50 per person. I wasn't big on paying that but we needed something different to do. I'm consciously avoiding the Children's Museum right now because of the big Egypt exhibit...worried about the crowds! So we headed to Garfield Park which is one of those hidden gems here in Indy. We went to the Asian Festival there in May and we're planning to do our Christmas pictures there later this year as well. Well, it was our lucky day because it was all free due to the rain earlier in the day. Not only was it free, but it wasn't crowded...so we had a lovely time there doing things with sand...like sand painting and playing in a sand box building sand castles. If you find a gold coin in the sandbox, you can exchange it for a goodie at the Pirate shop. And the sculptures they are building are going to be really cool! Check it out, it goes until the middle of August.
