looking cute!

One of the strategies that has been suggested as part of our attachment counseling, is to give Rachel Claire something that smells like me for her to sleep with because she has such trouble going to sleep. So I've been giving her a t-shirt that I've recently worn...which caused her to put it on one day and looked quite cute!!

Another interesting development lately is that Rachel Claire is noticing who looks like her. We saw a gal at Wal-mart the other day and she asked me if she spoke Chinese (she was Asian looking). And she's been hanging out with some of the bigger/older Chinese kids at school sometimes which is quite cute.

The hair style below is kind of Chinese looking and it has been a recent favorite...because its braids! Another recent observation by RC is when she shares traits with people which equals being twins...like I'm twins with Grace because we're both from China. Or, I'm twins with Avery because we both have short hair...of course this can backfire when someone says "you're not twins with me!" (kind of like -- you can't come to my birthday party!) which is a painful insult at this age.

I'm not very good at journaling in my blog...and I often think -- ooh, I need to write that down so I can note it in the blog. Well I've got a bit of a list today of things to share.

Rachel Claire has been using the phrase "back in the day" like remember when we did such-and-such, back in the day. It cracks me up! I don't say that so I don't know where she's getting it...likely someone at school...Mrs. McClendon perhaps??????

One day a few weeks ago it was a rainy day and we are always sympathetic to Carson's fear of the rain...so we were going to play a card game and we decided to do so in the closet (with Carson) so that we could be close to him. It was quite cute and funny!

One unfortunate event that happened recently was at the dinner table. Rachel Claire was feeling very frustrated and didn't want to eat what was for dinner. So she threw a bowl of lima beans across the table onto the floor. Needless to say that ended in Rachel Claire going to bed (right then) with no dinner...and amazingly she almost did it again the next night! Whew, that is all about who is in control here and Rachel Claire (for a variety of reasons) would like to be more in control than she is...something she share's with her mom from childhood too!
