First day of PreK3

The day finally arrived! August 25, 2008. The princess calendar is almost 'back to Belle' and its time for Rachel Claire to start school. We have been looking forward to this day for a long time but the closer it got, the more anxiety began to creep in to the conversation. Rachel Claire also began to realize that going to school meant not going to Tina's....something she is still struggling with and sad about.

The night before school started, I told Rachel Claire a story about how things would be on the first day. I included the fact that there would probably be kids and parents crying and she wanted to know who that would be!?!? I told her it was hard to know who that would be until that day arrived but that I thought it probably wouldn't be either of us.

We had a few photos at home and then also some in front of the school. And check out that adorable dress (with apples on it no less) from Aunt Rachel....cousin Ella has one just like it too. Rachel Claire's chair is next to our neighbor Lucy's chair, hopefully that is comforting to both of them -- & not causing them to get separated for talking too much! Everyone seemed to do well at school on the first day, I only observed minimal crying and that was from a little girl whose parents had already left.

And since the first day, Rachel Claire has been doing great. She goes to aftercare and is brave enough to go to the big kids play ground. She ran to give Maitresse (Mrs. Cardwell, the French Teacher) a big hug this morning after only having French once (yesterday). And according to Mrs. Eiszner (music teacher -- who used to babysit RC a few times), she is the "life of the party!" I am very proud of my little sweet pea who is growing up fast and seems to be integrating well into school life. She is a wee bit more tired though, so we are trying to move bedtime back a bit to get more sleep (for both of us!).
