Tagged!

Ok, first things first. I got tagged the other day and I am duly tagging some others:

1. Link to the person who tagged you: Carla
2. Post the rules: posted
3. Share six unimportant habits/quirks about yourself: see below
4. Tag three other people: see below
5. Make sure the people you tagged know you've tagged them.

Six quirks (I love that word!) about me (I usually don't like to talk about myself too much, does that already count as 2? But it was so easy to think of lots of quirks!):

1. I wish I were left handed. I don't know why I wish this on myself, apparently it can be quite inconvenient for those who are. So although I'm not left handed, many (most) of my romantic interests have been left-handed....hmmmm.

2. I read the newspaper religiously every day. I wish I could quit but I can't. Luckily I live in a town where the newspaper is not very chewy, because I just don't have time to read a great newspaper like the Washington Post every day. I can get our newspaper read in about 15 minutes...ugh.

3. I have an obsession about baby names (and my friend Carmen reminded me tonight, baby birthdays). Who knows where it came from but I haven't figured out how to obtain gainful employment by helping people pick out baby names....I used to write them in my journal as a kid and I think I could name 10 kids if I could afford to have that many! Its all I can think of to talk about with pregnant people...

4. I am a plethora of useless trivia (I'm pretty sure that is atrocious grammar...but I couldn't think of a better word for plethora, anyone have any suggestions?). I don't know how it all gets into my brain, it just sticks there (probably from reading the newspaper every day and listening to npr). A bunch of it is about sports which can sometimes be helpful and sometimes intimidating when talking to a male member of the species....and then there's that whole sports obsession tangent...

5. I had a Russian minor in college. Sometimes I just assume everyone knows this...why, you might ask, did I take Russian in college? Well, I needed a language and just didn't want to take Spanish again which is what I took in High School (don't know what made me feel so ambitious as to take a language with an entirely different alphabet...shesh!) and I was interested in Russia and Eastern Europe. I loved it and was lucky enough to travel to the Soviet Union after my college years (and tacked on a great roaming tour of Europe afterwards with my college roomie, Beth Rapach).

6. I love to travel (see #5) but hate to fly. Which is why there is always Valium in my purse when I am travelling (except when I have my child with me, in which case I have to have all my wits about me to keep her occupied and behaving appropriately on the plane). So I don't let my fear of flying keep me from going anywhere, but it sure does make it unpleasant when there's turbulence! :-)

Ok, enough about me, how about some pictures of my kid! Who is totally crashed out tonight because she's in sleep deficit, trying to transition to no naps, springtime and playing outside, etc. We've been in a serious meltdown phase lately, I'll be glad when we move on to the next phase, whatever that is.

The first few photos are of Rachel Claire with her umbrella...pretending that it is raining. Then there is a trip to White River Gardens to see the butterflies with LeeLoo and her mom Karry.

This butterfly has beautiful bluish/purple on the inside of its wings, but it is virtually impossible to get a picture of that...
