My step-sister Rachel and her husband Dave had Alex and Ella on October 24, 2006 so when I got there on January 10, they were about 2.5 months old. Well you know I skipped the first 9 months of the parenting thing, so I was a bit inexperienced but I do take direction well. Within 5 minutes of arriving at their home (after getting up at 5 am for a 7 am flight from Indy and a 3 hour drive from Denver to beautiful Gypsum, Colorado), I was feeding Ella! Yikes.
It was a great visit. Rachel is so calm, much more than I would be. Its pretty much feeding kids 24 hours a day! Although they do sleep from about 11 pm to almost 6 am most days. It made me realize how easy one kid is...although Rachel Claire definitely likes to push me to my limit as often as she can. As my fellow Komen board member said tonight, Rachel Claire is getting her leadership skills from her mother - as I mentioned how Rachel Claire wanted to be in charge at our house! I guess I hadn't thought of it that way....
I tried to help out with some chores and such as much as I could in between feedings.....I took on organizing the kids closet but of course I forgot the before photo, so you can just see the results - hopefully its still working for them and they can still find things! The kids have some mighty cute stuff, Robeez shoes, pottery barn kids, The Gap, etc. They are decked out! And they are quite cute themselves - and getting cuter every day. We took them to the doctor one day for their 2 month old shots - much easier when its not your kid! And then we took them to get their first ski passes - you can see a cute photo of that!
I definitely have an affinity for multiples but am glad that someone else in the family had them besides me, I don't know if I could be as calm and enjoy the moment as much as Rachel does. I hope we get to see them often as the kids get older.
Oh yeah, it snowed while I was there which was great since we haven't had much/any snow here this winter, so there are some cool photos of that. The views are so much more scenic out there than here...and that was relaxing and enjoyable.
Well, I have a whole other big batch of photos to post of what we've been doing since I've been back from Colorado, but no words to go with it yet, so stay tuned for that soon and GO COLTS!!!
