One of St. Richard's many traditions is that the First Graders conduct a Memorial Day ceremony on the Friday before Memorial Day. It is a great opportunity for them to learn some of our country's patriotic songs and understand what Memorial Day is all about. Rachel Claire was selected to say a few words between some of the songs. It was blazing hot and the kids had on their blazers and cute little sashes they created in red, white and blue. They were so cute as they marched in unison. Taps was an especially sobering part of the ceremony.
