We had a great Halloween experience hanging out with the Teeds and the Franklins. Meridian Kessler is a good place to go trick-or-treating as it is a big party and very fun. It was good to have a home base to hang out at where people could come and go and hang out by the chiminea even though it wasn't cold or anything.
Since then we've had some ups and downs. Rachel Claire had her first (!) ear infection on Saturday night and we had to go to the Immediate Care place. She did really well and once she got some medicine in her, she was feeling better.
We also had a trip to our regular doctor scheduled for Tuesday (election day) in which we discovered that Rachel Claire has grown 4 inches over the past year, wow, and is now in the 25th percentile for her height and weight, yay! Other than the flu shot, all was well at the doctor visit. Puppy was brave along with Rachel Claire and got a flu shot too.
Last night we had a little dresser mishap that scared both of us. I pulled out the bottom drawer of the dresser to get out some new jammies (and darn those 2T footed jammies are too small now!) and Rachel Claire thought it would be a good idea to sit on the drawer while it was pulled out...needless to say she almost had the dresser fall on top of her and luckily I was close enough to keep it from doing but not close enough to keep the freshly watered plant from falling into the jammie drawer....but at least not on RC's head! We were both quite scared and then later both mad (because the jammies she wanted to wear got covered in plant dirt and water and because she sat on the drawer in the first place) but also glad that the dresser didn't actually fall on her.
And now for the funny story of the day....we often tell the story of Cinderella at the dinner table (I must admit, it is getting quite old...) and Rachel Claire will share part of the story telling duties. Lately when we get to the part about the mean step-sisters tearing Cinderella's dress, Rachel Claire will say, "those mean step-sisters had an ATTITUDE and tore Cinderella's dress!" in a funny, smart-alecky way....it is quite funny and something she learned from her cousin Emma because a few weeks ago we were hanging out with Emma and she was a wee bit tired from not getting enough sleep the night before and her mom kept asking her not to have such a bad attitude! :-)
Finally got arount to making apple pie from the apple orchard apples, yummmmm
Rachel Claire's class on HalloweenI had to take out all of the sticky stuff because the dentist says Rachel Claire can't eat it with the sealant on her tooth...and while I was sorting it, she was supposed to be in bed but she came down and found me sorting it on the kitchen counter -- busted! -- she said, Mom, what are you doing with my Halloween candy!?!? Of which she has not yet eaten one piece since Halloween...
