No photos today, just a little story about an adventure we had today....this morning as I was getting dressed after my shower I heard a thud in my bedroom. I had left Rachel Claire reading a book and watching tv on my bed when I went to take a shower. Apparently she thought it would be a good idea to take the comforter and the sheets off the bed. Somehow she slipped and fell HARD on her head! I rushed out to pick her up and comfort her, it was a loud thud but she definitely wipes out often so I wasn't too worried.
But as the morning went on and she was still clingy, wouldn't eat and was lethargic/falling asleep in the car, I decided we needed to go to the doctor. Our beloved Dr. Molly was on vacation but we went to her office. They told us to go straight to the hospital because RC might need a CT scan, always comforting....
So, off we went to St. Vincent Children's, another unnerving thing because I really don't know my way around up there. As we were at 86th & Meridian, Rachel Claire began to throw up - making me even more scared! I pulled over and cleaned her up and continued on our LONG way to St. V/Children's.
We got there and everyone was lovely. Even ran into a former St. Richard's mom who was nice. It was a relief just to be there. Several doctors came in to see Rachel Claire and shine a light into her eyes. She was still lethargic and basically sat in my lap from 9 am to almost noon. If you know her, you know that is very out of character! The doctors were great and said that she was probably fine but that we should have a CT scan just to be sure. We waited almost an hour for that (apparently there was a run on CT scans this morning - must have been a lot of falling off the bed!). And Rachel Claire continued to throw up sporadically while we were there, unnerving both of us...since we really haven't had much of that since she's been here from China.
Needless to say, the CT scan came back fine, they gave RC some anti-nausea medicine and sent us on our way. She stayed awake all the way home and then asked to take a nap when we got here. She slept for 3 hours and woke up her same old happy, chatty self!
So I got a wild hair and decided to go to the Children's Museum for the last hour or so...forgetting that it was (a) spring break and (b) the first Thursday of the month when the museum is free from 4 - 8 pm - ugh! We rode the carousel twice (the line was all the way to the elevator!) and visited Clifford and the gift shop and headed home. Rachel Claire regained her appetite while we were there (she hadn't eaten since last night) and ate: cereal, fruit snack, yogurt, quiche, pizza, banana and jello before slowing down for the night....
It was quite a scary morning but all seems to be well now. Now if we could just get that warm weather back and a few more days of spring break!!
